Hey everyone,
First off, I hope you’ve all had an amazing holiday season, filled with fun, comics, and love!
I wanted to take a moment to share some exciting news about a new project I’m working on that will be rolling out in stages through this mailer over 2025. I’m collaborating with the incredibly talented Keiran Squires, Kieran is a freelance artist and writer living and working in Spain. When he's not trying to be creative he spends his time trying to get away with wearing Hawaiian shirts much to the annoyance of his family.
Introducing: Serial Hunter.
Below is an outline of the series and the world in which Serial Hunter exists. I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments! I can’t wait to start sharing sneak peeks and pages with you in the new year.
Stay tuned—big things are coming!
When humans first emerged from the soup of life, God sat with the Light-Bringer, Lucifer, to establish the rules governing who would ascend to heaven and who would be condemned to hell. However, during a night of gambling (yes, they used to love a wager, as all gods do), Lucifer lost and had to concede to a small amendment to the divine contract.
“When those die at the hands of a serial murderer, regardless of their sins in life, they will be instantly purified in the eyes of God and granted access to heaven.”
This small clause in the contract costs the Devil thousands of souls each year and causes Lucifer no end of torment. The victim-to-killer ratio is far too high for his liking.
As with all contracts, the devil is in the details—specifically, the fine print:
Clause 22634.1.145
A serial murderer is officially identified after their third kill, provided the body contains an intact soul.
Clause 22634.1.146
The moment someone becomes a serial murderer, they are removed from Lucifer’s sight to prevent interference.
Clause 22634.1.147
No immortal or god may interfere with the serial murderer to stop them.
Clause 22634.1.148
If a serial murderer, upon death, repents and resolves their sins in the presence of an angel, they may still be granted access to heaven.
Clause 22634.1.149
If one action causes the deaths of multiple people, it is counted as a single kill.
In an effort to counteract this loophole, Lucifer has assembled a team of humans who once sold their souls to him. When the Hellhounds come to collect, these individuals are given one final choice: to serve as one of his hunters for ten more years or be dragged to hell. If they agree, Lucifer promises to return their souls after the decade of service. Of course, as with all devilish deals, he never intends for anyone to survive the ten years.
On the flip side, God established a team of angels tasked with creating and protecting serial killers. Their purpose is to save the souls of the fallen and ensure that the balance of power remains away from Lucifer.
Each chapter delves into the lengths to which God and the Devil will go in this eternal struggle and the battles humanity must endure as a result—because, sometimes, not all serial killers are human.
What a fantastic concept! Can’t wait to read this. :) Happy New year, Aaron and team!
Sounds awesome!!
